Seven Area Robotics Teams Advance to VEX Robotics World Championship
Edinburg, Texas — Seven local robotics teams have earned a place at the VEX Robotics World Championship following the Region One ESC Robotics Regional Championship held Saturday, March 7, at the Region One ESC Conference Center in Edinburg.
The qualifying teams will advance to the international competition in St. Louis, Missouri, April 21–30, 2026, where they will compete alongside top robotics teams from around the world.
Teams representing the Region One area advancing to the VEX Robotics World Championship include:
- IDEA Public Schools, IDEA San Benito | Iron Dragon
- Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD, PSJA T. Jefferson T-STEM Early College High School | Mecha Titans
- Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD, PSJA T. Jefferson T-STEM Early College High School | Short Circuit
- Texas Robotics Alliance Community Team (Middle School) | Cycle-Breakers A
- Texas Robotics Alliance Community Team (Middle School) | Cycle-Breakers B
- Brooks County ISD, Falfurrias Junior High School | Jersey Robotics
- Harmony Public Schools, Harmony School of Excellence – Laredo | Mighty Hawks
The Region One Robotics Regional Championship brought together teams from school systems and the community to compete with robots they designed, built and programmed themselves. The competition challenges students to apply engineering and programming skills while working collaboratively to solve complex problems.
Advancing to the VEX Robotics World Championship places these teams among the top robotics programs in the region and gives students the opportunity to compete on a global stage.
VEX Robotics competitions engage students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) through hands-on design and engineering challenges. Students gain experience in coding, robotics design, teamwork and critical thinking while preparing for future study and careers in high-demand technical fields.
The VEX Robotics World Championship for high school teams will take place in St. Louis, April 21–24, followed by the middle school division April 25–27.
